comment(24) I heard you guys like 3D models, so here's 6000+!

I feel like this week has been a little strange. The hot weather in the UK has meant that I've been unable to spend much time at my desk, as it is situated in my unbelievably hot loft. As a result, I've been working off of my incredibly outdated laptop from my living room sofa, wirelessly projecting a second screen to my TV, while I reviewed models for 8 hours a day. This resulted in, what I would call, one of the most productive weeks in The Models Resource history.

Despite the laptop running off of coal, coughing up a lung with each polygon rendered, it managed to survive a non-stop barrage of model rips being pushed on it. As a result, I somehow managed to get through more submissions than ever before - resulting in this incredibly large update. I feel like we have the majority of systems on the site covered by at least 1 model this week, and with over 200 contributors involved to thank. Our queue is at the lowest volume it has been in quite some time - but there is still plenty more work to get that number down further.

With over 100 submissions coming in a day, you can probably imagine the speed in which that queue can grow. The past few months have all been exceptionally large updates, and with the popularity of the site always growing, it's not all too surprising to think this trend may well continue. Sometimes we may take some time to get to more tricky or unconventional submissions, which I can only apologise for - but we're all human, and I can't often spend 8 hours a day working on the site - I got bills to pay after all!

In any case, I hope you all enjoy what is now our largest update to the site by excess of 2000 models on the previous record holder. I didn't expect that to happen for quite some time, but I guess it wound up only being 4 months later! Much love everybody, and thank you all for continuing to contribute to the archive, or just simply browse it at your leisure. Cya next time!

P.S. We opened up our official merch store last week! You can get yourself a cool t-shirt, stickers, or just donate directly to the site to help us improve the user experience. We have just added stock of white and black shirts for each of the sites, so if you were holding off for these - now is your chance to get yours!

Have you considered my two ideas?

Yeah, this is kind of along the lines of what I was thinking, except not rows since the site has a dynamic width. It would need to just be a limit of a certain number per console shown by default with a show all button to toggle the rest. That number would need to be small enough to account for a ton of categories being represented though and even then, I'm not sure if it would fix this problem. Definitely worth trying though.

My brain just says two rows shows by default for each section, if it goes beyond that some form of "Theres more past this point! Expand!" sort of prompt to then fully expand the section? That way it's clear there is more, be it with a graphic or otherwise.

This is technically already being done but, due to the way the rendering works, it still has to insert the elements into the document and when there are this many of them, even without directly rendering them, things can still slow down.

This would probably take work even if it could, (Assuming you haven't done it.) but could you use a culling system for the icons? Think of Minecraft as an example, the world is loaded into 16 x 16 block "Chunks" That make up the world. As well as 124 blocks below to the player. To save resources they visually remove chunks that you cant see. They are still simulated in bare basics, mob movements, TNT, Redstone, ect. Yet the world below and behind the player is always unloaded entirely.

What if, every Icon below the screen (Let's say it's 1920 x 1080 at 16:9 widescreen.) is not visually loaded, and everything above the screen is unloaded? On my screen If I click on a tab like 3DS there are 5 across and 3 downwards I see, So that's 15. To reduce pop in, you could have a offset for culling, and have 1 row above and 1 row below still visible outside of the screen? I don't know how well it could work, but it's worth a suggestion!

Here's a video on it, skip to around 13:42 !

I have two ideas to fix this issue:

-Divide this update into sub-pages.

-Divide the models into one tab for each console, and these tabs can contain the new models from their respective console. that way it can reduce lag.

Fair enough! I'm never averse to suggestions regardless.

Okay that makes sense. I read it wrong and thought it was struggling to load the data as a whole.

First, that's not feasible because the file size isn't stored in the database so it can't be sorted on. But second and more importantly, what exactly would that accomplish? The current issue is the sheer number of icons - the size of the actual assets doesn't actually contribute to load times on the homepage.

I know you guys all reworked the site a couple of months ago, but what if you sorted homepage submissions by file size? on top is stuff under 100MB, and bottom is 100 - 250MB, then hidden under a "Show large file size" Folder? I forgotten the exact filesize limits you have set, but it is the only Idea I got this evening.

Hello
As a new user I would like to know how to add models to the queue
HazyCozmos Jul 13, 2026 8:33 PM

I thought about that but the only reliable way to do it would be to collapse all of them by default. Otherwise, what consistent number could we use to determine what's "large"? What if that number is 100 but we have 99 submissions to each of 20 consoles? It's still something I'm thinking over but I want to make sure whatever is done works well and doesn't impact the usability of the homepage if possible.

Obviously you would know better than I would, but would it be possible to start the larger tabs closed and have them only load once opened in some way?

Yeah, it can definitely cause some issues. Long updates can sometimes lag the search bar on mobile but this one can even cause some problems on desktop. I haven't quite figured out a good way to address it yet though.

I need some help, I've wanted to rip models from Scarlet|Violet and it's DLCs.
However, the model only Model importer for .trmdl files breaks the rig on import. (Specifically the jaw bones, lips, and everything eye related. Is stretched down.)

I've tried downgrade blender from the 5.3.0 beta and every version down to 4.2 and nothing worked, leading me to believe its the addon.

Are there any fixes or alternatives? Here's the addon:
