Here's this week's model tip: Don't rely on exported material settings. This goes both for importing models, as well as for exporting them. Not all formats can support all the settings your program can support, and not all programs will interpret those settings the same exact way. Things like specular mask textures, reflectivity levels, and even material colors. If you're exporting models, just focus on the most important thing: the base texture. And if you're importing models, be prepared to set up all the materials yourself.
