update 2: glimmer of hope (mdl2stl.py) crushed by it being totally nonfunctional and full of parser errors
update: desperately in need of that tutorial. the only ones i can find online rely on a program whose download link expired

Is that giant Eggman statue in the background of Stardust Speedway a 3D model? Or is it multiple sprites for each angle?
