I think I know what you mean by "cursed"... the UVs don't rip correctly and need to be manually corrected using the values within their individual materials, and for the solid colored parts I had to fix the materials on Mario's gloves and boots to be the correct color.
I'm not sure who to ask in regards to fixing this, currently all I can do is eyeball it from in-game screenshots to make sure it lines up correctly.

I'd like to ask real quick: what's your process for ripping the models? Have you used any particular tools to assist? I've tried my hand at doing so, and currently, the results I've yielded are... cursed, to say the least.

Hm... I wonder if we have enough documentation/reverse engineering for this game to be able to rip the models from the ROM rather than screenshotting the emulator yet, there's still a lot of stuff regarding the player characters that can't be ripped easily from the debug screen like Mario's opened hands when he's giving the winning player an applause or Yoshi's face with his mouth full among other things. Skeleton models for when the characters get electrocuted are also a detail missing presently for that matter that I'd like to contribute.
Considering we have Romhacks like Smash Remix implementing custom character models, I imagine it's probably possible through the Fast64 Blender addon much like with Super Mario 64.

UPDATE: Found the tools! Apparently Super Smash Bros. shares an Editor with GoldenEye 007 of all games, currently in the process of getting everything for Mario from both the US and Japanese builds dumped and fixed up to upload a revision for his page on here.

Question; if modded games are not permitted on Models Resource, where can I find them?

@Peardian Well I mean, there's plenty of games where existing pre-renders are unaccounted for here (looking at you, HWL), but I suppose Smash tends to get a lot of focus. Just wanted to be sure, thanks.

@Doc von Schmeltwick: Yes, it's just the fighter models in a pose. This is the N64 we're talking about, where models are simple and textures have size limits. Using pre-rendered images of every fighter in every costume would waste a bunch of space and look blurry. Why do that when they can just pop in the actual model? Besides, you know this community would have ripped all the pre-rendered sprites long ago if they existed.

@Peardian So, for clarification, the still images of characters seen in the "VS" screen are not images at all, but full gameplay models rendered in real-time?

i think they mean they are literally just the ingame fighter models.

Also they could just mean that because they are prerendered they could be in the spriters

@lelanbkeeton: The developers of Project M themselves submitted their models to the site as Custom / Edited. Maybe the models should be reorganized into their own respective series pages, but the important distinction is that they were submitted by the artists that created them. If the artists from the Smash Remix project want to submit their own models to the site as customs, we would be happy to accept them.
