Why is this how I learn SMG4 is owned by Glitch

Agreed, I've been shouting about Meta Runner since before they formed GLITCH, feels wrong for Tari (and to a lesser extend Meggy) to be left out like this. Meanwhile Knights of Guinever hasn't even been greenlit yet.

Yeah, but Glitch can still use Tari without risking to be sued by Nintendo. They are currently still selling merch of their original SMG4 characters after several years, including Tari, yet they never got copyright issues from Nintendo. If Tari had the same design as one of Nintendo's properties, then yeah, they would totally get sued, but here that's not the case.

That’s a pretty bad comparison. Both of those are major companies who are pretty much in the same lane and likely came to some legal agreements. Glitch is an indie studio and Nintendo is a billion dollar giant that tends to sue whatever they consider a threat to them.

Just because Tari debuted in a Mario parody show doesn't mean that Glitch can't legally use her. Conker and Banjoe were introduced in Diddy Kong Racing, yet Microsoft can still use these characters without risking to be sued by Nintendo.

Question: since GLITCH Karts is able to be on this site, as it's an official game, then that means customs of these characters would now be allowed on this site, right? If so, then could customs of other GLITCH characters be accepted here too? Like N, Jax, Ragatha, Ken, Andi, Frankie, etc.?

On a sort of related note, it really bums me out how GLITCH seems to have forgotten about/abandoned Tari and Meta Runner. I get what Centrixe and the others have been saying about it, what with its ties to SMG4 and all. However, Meta Runner is a completely separate canon from SMG4, and the Tari we see in SMG4 is different from the one we see in Meta Runner (different backstories, slightly different personalities, etc.). I've been a huge fan of SMG4/GLITCH since 2020, and even though I absolutely LOVE all of GLITCH's shows and greatly look forward to every new episode (esp TADC and KoG), but Meta Runner will always hold a special place in my heart, and Tari is still my most favorite character of theirs, and it breaks my heart that they don't get much attention anymore.

Besides, they pretty much phased out Meta Runners entirely; it's not really something new or novel, it's not gonna get merch.
Hell me and my siblings watch every new Glitch release and have watched through every Glitch show up to this point, *except for Meta Runners*
Most people simply don't care about it because they don't want to bother watching SMG5 the TV show
And as Cent said, it originally spawned out of Nintendo parodies so it's not like they have much they can do with it, even if they have those original characters unrelated to the show it's still got it's roots

Yeah, Meggy is practically a Splatoon OC. Aside from her appearance and weapon being derivative of Inkling Girl and the Splattershot, her page on the SMG4 wiki has Splatoon and Mario stuff everywhere.

Dunno, I guess I just don't understand why you and Dolph insist on it being weird. Tari / Meta Runner has direct ties to SMG4 which is based off of Super Mario. Glitch is a major name in the industry now; they can't exactly tip-toe that line anymore. If merchandise when the show first started was already limited time, the Nintendo thing could be partially responsible. Tari's wiki page has "She was introduced in the Waluigi arc." Like... it's pretty obvious.

I assume that's the same reason Meggy's not in this game, despite having her own show in Sunset Paradise.

Still weird considering Meta Runners was it's own original show.

I'm not against further inclusions for this game, for the record; I'm speculating as to why Tari would be left out. There are still ties to a Nintendo IP, even if the story is original.

What legal troubles? Tari is 100% a Glitch Productions IP. Meta Runner did have merch when the show was brand new, but it was mostly limited time stuff.
It just seems strange to not feature Glitch production's very first animated series when it's pretty much the root of the company' success.

This game was made in conjunction with some exclusive merchandise of the characters in racing gear. As far as I know, Meta Runner doesn't really have merch. Wikipedia says "The series follows characters originally created for the Super Mario parody web series SMG4." I imagine they left it alone to avoid any possible legal troubles with Nintendo nowadays. The chibi-looking version of Tari sorta looks like a Mario character, too – I, for one, thought her hair bang was based off of Rosalina.

The lack of Tari in this doesn't seem right, seeing as Meta Runner was Glitch's first show
