It's from the Wii U to Wii U Transfer Tool, hidden away in settings with unreasonable amounts of personality, completely forgotten. Well, by everyone except the people here, mostly. Its development name is "WagonU" and these characters are actually in a file called "piki.szs", funnily enough. Probably a holdover from the Wii to Wii U Transfer Tool.
no way this is epic
Robo-Chao!
Where in the home menu is this from? I've never seen it in over a decade of having this console.
I just noticed. There's an odd amount of face textures for these models. Was Nintendo planning on having them become some sorta Wii U mascots? Cuz like... During the transfer, these guys are very unemotive. At most they blink? Yet there are a LOT of unused assets for the faces?
I had my dad call Nintendo a long time ago and they actually have a species name. The species name is Sopik. I'm not making this up. That's the actual name of the species associated with the Wii U to Wii U transfer.
One of Nintendo’s most obscure characters.
This guy should have been a Trophy or a Spirit in Smash
