As much as I want to love this vehicle for its incredible speed and high-risk, high-reward idea... I just hate it. I just really, REALLY hate it.
So yes, this thing's speed is incredible, second best in the game. And it pretty much IS the best in the game since it's a bike, therefore it can wheelie to increase its speed. Its weight is also very good, letting it knock other vehicles around. To balance these two strong qualities are out, they made most of this thing's stats pretty bad, but acceleration isn't super important due to SSMTs, handling is hardly anything at all, and off-road is only important in specific cases, though Mini-Turbo is somewhat significant. So, why do I hate this thing? Well, there's one teensy-weensy, itty-bitty catch...
THIS. THING. CAN'T. TAKE. TURNS.
Seriously! The drift stat at 29 already sounds QUITE bad, but it's EVEN WORSE. Internally, this thing's drift if almost as bad as the PHANTOM. MANY turns in MANY of the tracks are either super hard, incredibly finnicky, or just outright IMPOSSIBLE for the Spear to take. This just truly makes you wonder if Nintendo even bothered to properly playtest this game, or if they just decided "yeah, just make a clearly defined meta and make every other vehicle utter shit." (Although this isn't official, this is also a HUGE problem for custom tracks; most of them only care about Flame Runner or Mach Bike, so playing any other vehicle is just asking for trouble.) Unlike certain outside drift vehicles with bad drift (like the Phantom), where manipulating outside drift physics can make it slightly easier to take a turn, there's little to no way to manipulate the inside drift physics for turning, so if you're running into a wall? Nope, you can't correct yourself, you're running INTO that wall. "Oh, but the Dolphin Dasher has a worse drift stat! Surely THAT's worse, right?" No. The visual drift stat is a LIE. Its actual drift stat is good.
So, would you rather have a vehicle that has a slight edge in speed at the cost of HORRENDOUS turning, or a vehicle with slightly less speed than that, but good turning? ...Yeah, I"m sure as fuck not picking the first option, thank you very much.

At first, I would consider giving it a drift reactivity of 0.97 (the same as the Quacker) and a manual and automatic drift tightness of 0.0193 and 0.0217 respectively (the same as the Wild Wing), but I know that if I were to make its drift stats that high, the Spear would be way too good, especially with inside drift and it being the fastest bike in the game. I don't want to make the Spear overpowered as hell, as I want to keep its low drift stat while still making it viable.
Here's how I would actually do it. I would increase the Spear's drift reactivity from 0.82 to 0.86 (the same as the Offroader and Blue Falcon), its manual drift tightness from 0.0108 to 0.0125 (slightly higher than the Sugarscoot), and it's automatic drift tightness from 0.0092 to 0.01400 (the same as the Standard Bike M). This keeps the Spear's low drift stat while still making it viable and makes the Spear a better vehicle.
