disabled_by_defaultDue to increasing levels of AI scraping putting incredible strain on server resources but Cloudflare's under attack mode being a bit too heavy-handed to leave up 24/7, we're trying a new way to combat these attacks. By default, all traffic will be challenged but logged in users will bypass those challenges completely. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as it was never our intention to try to force registration and you certainly still don't have to - passing one of those challenges should keep you in the clear for a half-hour otherwise.
comment(4) The Nightmare before Rendering... Shaders!

Hello Everyone. It is Evzonius yet again.

As the Spooky month has downed upon us. Skeletons have started rising from their graves and the Danse Macabre starts playing we give you yet another batch of models gracing The Models Resource. An shoutout to everyone who has submitted their models and those who yet have to be approved.

Have you ever come across a game where the models you have exported just dont come out right in your rendering software. Then you might have to deal with shaders. Shaders make games ever so slightly more magical but often require some knowledge of the game engine they are ripped from. Dont fret if your submitted model doesnt look entirely like how it does ingame.

Just make sure that you have all the corresponding shader textures and material files included. This is to give those who are well experienced in rendering all the information and files they might seek. There might be a lot of them (looking at you Unreal Engine) depending on the model. You'll still need to apply the "Base" texture to the model when submitting, how strange it might end up looking. Material files often export in .MAT or .JSON files which can be simply renamed to the .TXT file extension (before you ask, not everyone might use Notepad++).

As always. For other information on how to make your submissions perfect check out more information here and use Dazz' Tools Model Analyser to check how you are doing. Using this will help the Model Staff with being faster into accepting your submissions. If you have any questions you can also ask us or other users for help on our

That data is not currently stored outside of the asset itself so while you can see the formats in an individual submission, there is not currently a way to filter to them.

yeah, shaders/material parameters can be rough sometimes, especially for those eye materials from sonic dream team. they use a packed texture for color masks, uses clamping, and overlays another one.

assuming feature suggestions are acceptable, a filter for models featuring specific file formats would be a big help.
