@SBF97: If you're talking about Colors Ultimate, it DOES use the cutscene model. If you're talking about OG Colors, obvs it's because of performance.

Something Something Bucket 'o Sushi

@SBF97: Cutscene models in games tend to be much higher-poly for that exact reason. Well, that and characters typically get a lot closer to the camera during cutscenes than they do during gameplay, and the closer something gets to the camera, the more detailed it should look.
For Colors, cutscenes are pre-rendered video files, so performance isn't really that big a concern since nothing is being rendered in real-time. Presumably, Blind Squirrel wanted to re-animate the cutscenes in-engine, which would explain why these models are here.

I gotta be honest: Sonic's cutscene model is much higher quality than his in-game model. It makes you wonder why they didn't just use this model for gameplay, unless it's due to performance issues or something.

@Random Talking Bush i'm willing to bet they were gonna not make it prerendered

@SmashBrosFan137: For whatever reason, Sonic Colors Ultimate has the original models that were used for the in-engine-but-pre-rendered cutscenes (and in their original MDL0 formats, too!) in the game's files, completely unused.

What was this intended for?

HAHAHA! Baldy Nosehair? That's the best thing I've heard all day!
