@UnoriginalRob: The 2D sections always have a zoomed-out, tightly controlled camera, and the "2D" models are always fully lit, so their true depth is hidden. The only places where it's possible to really notice the depth are on curved surfaces (like the Tostarena tower) or the New Donk City festival, and even then you have to pay close attention to notice it. I think it's safe to say that a great majority of players would have no idea that all of these "pixels" are fully modeled.

Why are people surprised that these are models? Did they never move the camera in 2D sections?
