@Aquatically404 I never watched the tv series though at least it remedied Spyro having a much more redefined design. Unless it's because that show took place in a different continuity? Thankfully they didn't resort to "human kids being partnered to creatures" trope for the TV series, cause' there's gonna be "unfortunate comparisons to other series" if you get what I meant by that.
Actually, there is canon explanations for some of the Dark Skylander variants, such as Kaos's evil crystals, dark traptanium, and that tv show we don't talk about
@Aquatically404 It's cause' of Dark Spyro who's Spyro's alter ego introduced in Spyro's Adventure 3DS, also the fact they didn't introduce the Light and Dark elements until Trap Team.
Though interestingly enough, they never had a canonical explanation on how do Skylanders switch elements (see the Villains who went by their original elements until they became Senseis in Imaginators.)

Makes me wonder why Skylanders had physical dark variants but not light variants. Odd...
