Makes me think of Super Monkey Ball

@Super Princess Peach, you need to flip the facing of the normals on the polys you want to act as an outline.
idk how to do this specifically in Blender but it's a common trick for getting outline effects since each poly usually only has one visible side.

I'm not expecting anyone to see this soon, but the plasma around his body is made so that the side you're looking at is invisible while the back is visible. how can I recreate this effect in Blender? I'm still relatively new at this and I can't figure it out.
