Since the Octolings are going to be playable on the 14th October, I think we can now move the Octoling model and the Octopus model to the "Playable Characters" section.

Really? I can understand the hair (or whole head) being separate to switch gender. But otherwise the whole body is always the same, with different clothing put ontop of the model.

But I can't say for certain, I can only base this on what I've seen in game. Analysed game footage I've captured.

Oh neat, more unplayable characters. We probably get all weapons, decorative props like seagulls and everything single player campaign except Octoling before we get Inkling and Octoling, simply because of how the Inkling and Octoling models are actually handled in game (they are made of seperate models stitched together).
