This is slightly off-topic but I wonder how they converted it? I found the WagonU models in `lodging>ConvertTest`(might be the other way around), so that implies the WagonU files were converted from Wagon, which makes sense given the transfer robot models are under the filename `piki.szs`.

Completely off topic, but if the Wii U had a good amount of launch titles, and Nintendo didn't astronomically eff up the marketing, it could've been so much more influential... I'll never forgive Nintendo for going all "no more fun UI" with the Switch and Switch 2.

@Peardian That'd work for Wagon, but what about WagonU? Given those are Wii U files, BrawlBox can't open them, and Switch Toolbox doesn't make any sense of shaders or material properties, outputting only basic material data.

(Just realized not many people know these codenames, so Wagon is the Wii Transfer Tool, and WagonU is the Wii U to Wii U transfer tool, which uses a modified and converted codebase)

@Cat_central: Models from this era are usually not very complicated, material-wise. If these models open in BrawlBox, you can see all of the exact material settings they use, including the mathematical formula that the textures/colors get plugged into.

Hm... I've taken a look at both of those, but I can't find anything too relevant /:
I just don't get how Nintendo shaders have such complex blending and layering and specific behavior... with only a small handful of shaders? And textures are missing, too-- for example, the glyphs on the tiles of this very map-- those textures just don't exist. And a couple other textures from WagonU, too.

Honestly, I don't remember how. It was hell. I still need to do the next one T-T

I really wanna make an animation with this, but Nintendo shaders are... Something else. No matter what I try, no matter what tricks or advanced shaders I use, I can never get it looking close enough to the original for me to be satisfied.

I wish I knew how the people behind NoClipOnline recreate the shaders so perfectly...

P.S. I'm gonna upload the Wii U -> Wii U models at some point, I just need to rip them for the 10th time and put them together. I actually made a decent recreation of WagonU in Unity that can move files between folders with badly recreated versions of the transfer anims.

(P.P.S. The transfer music is just stored as plain AAC in the original lmfao)

@TemSuit If I remember correctly, I ripped the Wii Transfer Tool channel, used some software I don't remember to rip the model files, then used BrawlBox or whatever the other one was called to export it to some file format. I then checked the model files in Blender and (I think?) exported them as DAE there. It's been a long time.

It wasn't NoClipOnline, it was NoClipWebsite. I mixed up the name with NormalMap-Online lol

One idea I've had for a while, but not the knowledge of how to do it is modding this into Pikmin 2 as a palette for the caves.
