Another month gone, another huge batch of models! Thanks to everyone who reviewed their own submissions with the new model checker tool. For everyone else, we hope you will consider using the tool to check your submissions for issues while you wait. We still have 5000+ submissions to go through, so there is plenty of time to try it out. The more models you fix on your own, the faster we can approve them.

The biggest highlight of this month is Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, courtesy of ghostsoupp. Other highlights include Sonic Rush Adventure, Lethal League Blaze, and, uh, Barnyard. Be sure to check out the new custom models as well!

Thank you again for your continued patience. Enjoy!

@Peardian: Wow, thanks for the information. I’m not very familiar with uploading models, cause’ I do more sprites.

@RavenclawNimbus Like with what rveyrand said, models take a long time to inspect simply because they are so complex. For every model, we need to check:
- the positioning and rotation
- the texture paths (fixing them is easy but adds time)
- the material assignment
- the texture coordinates (UVs)
- rigging (if it has bones; we don't usually check every single bone, just several important ones)
- complex textures (fixing them takes even more time)
- render icons (if it doesn't have any good ones; the more textures it has, the longer it takes to set up)
- research (if the name or categorization is wrong)

If there is a model that has dozens of textures, some of which need to be split, and the texture paths need to be fixed and it needs new icons and the name needs research... a model like that could take 10-20 minutes by itself. I just spent my entire Sunday to check a batch of such models and only got through 16 of them.

Okay, thanks. I uploaded something to “Castaway Paradise”, (which I submitted) and it’s been like, 5 days. I’m new to uploading, so I didn’t know how different submitting models was, compared to sprite sheets. /:

@RavenclawNimbus as far as I know, they (the mod team) have to download each model uploaded that are in a "temp" section of the server and then use their 3d software (blender, Noesis, 3ds max...whatever they use) to check if textures are loaded correctly when importing, and check if the armature ain't broken by moving all bones one by one.
[the model checking is usually done faster in the custom section as these are made by the uploader themselves].
as for priority list, I think it goes by:
1) mod/admin upload?
2) custom model?
3) date of upload
4) amount of models awaiting for a single game.

I’m just curious, and I won’t blame you, but do you have any idea what makes the models take so long to inspect? Is it that you have too many models to inspect, and that you can’t get to everything very quickly? (I’m just curious. No hate, I just wanted to know if there was a specific reason. Also I’m kinda’ new to modeling so I wasn’t sure how it worked.)

@SteamyJ I don't have any statistics, but I do know that the uploader of the Pokemon models used the checker tool to check them. If they hadn't, and if all of the models had needed texture paths to be fixed, it would have taken me days or even weeks to fix them all. For this, I certainly appreciate the uploader's cooperation.

I'm impressed by that mass approval of Pokemon not long ago. Bravo.
