Yeah, I feel back in the PS2 era most of the data size came from audio and video files, nowadays it's definitely the textures. I've noticed with model porting that this stuff will add up very quickly because resolution keeps getting higher. Because of PS2 RAM the textures couldn't be too high, lower resolution means that it'll run much smoother, they tend to still use lower res textures for open-world games for geometry that's far away from the player. A lot of the time, geometry far away from the player won't even be fully modeled either. I've watched a lot of Boundary Break to find out how devs optimize their games

@Maxton667hunter: You greatly overestimate how much data is required for PS2 models. Audio and video files are much larger and probably make up a majority of the game's file size, if I were to guess.

I thought that the models weigh too much, but they don't reach 1MB, I'm surprised, so if the models don't weigh, because the games weigh 4GB
