I never knew that his model changed depending on the game's region! very neat!

Crash Boom Bang technically had a similar thing, but the opposite, since that game was made in Japan.
Crash's original design is the japanese one there, but in the worldwide versions, we got a design much more akin to Crash's look in Tag Team Racing.

Was this the only time Crash's in-game model was changed in Japan outside of the box art?

i love his dance at the start of a race

The Japanese version of this Crash model looks like it's from a Chinese bootleg of Crash Tag Team Racing.

@Jargon_Madjin Ya, I know. It's just that as far as I'm aware, this was the only time it was in the game itself and not just the art.

@Doc von Schmeltwick.
The Japanese design goes as far back as the first game, the Japanese market described the US concept design as 'too aggressive' so Naughty Dog got a little help with a new design to please the Japanese market, and this design is what ended up on the boxart, Japan has been obsessed with Crash ever since, in fact, it was the first non-Japanese game to receive the Japanese Gold Prize, kind of a big deal because that basically means it was one of the first foreign games that Japan liked, a lot. Japan even invented Crash's signature dance which went on to show up in Crash 2 onwards

He's so cute!

thank

You obtain it by holding L1 and R1, while pressing square circle square circle on the title screen.

I don't know. I never played the game, as I found that info on TCRF.

@robowil In all my and my brother's years of playing this game, neither of us have found this. How is it obtained?

This is an unlockable skin in the US/EU version, but it's the default one in the JP version.

I don't why they changed it, but I like it

What was with Japan and their obsession with making this particular character so "kawaii" all the time?
