Most of this stuff was already scrapped by the time the leak happened.
I agree. The aliens is what I liked about Half Life because of how cool their designs and behaviour were. Everything else in HL2 are all a bunch of classic sci-fi references.
(The Combine appear to be inspired by the Martians from War of the Worlds, with the Striders being obvious, and the Antlions are similar to the Arachnids from Starship troopers)

I wish they never leaked this beta. Half life 2 could have had a diverse cast of aliens like the first game. It could have been more than fighting the same zombies, combines, and antlions, but they manage by using source's physics and the enviroments, but more aliens would've been a nice touch.
