Hey guys, thanks for the replies. A guy on the site advised me to press the "Z" key to open the controls and place the textures, and I did. However, I have another small problem: some parts of Cloud's face are black. I don't know what's causing it. I've added the image to my post in "The VG Resource › The Resources › The Models Resource › Project Organization "FF7 PS1 models + Blender".

@Henzo I've checked the file, either you didn't switch to the material preview or the .dae didn't automatically assign the textures to the model for some reason. If you want to check further, go into the 'Shading' Tab and click on the model. It might take a bit to load, but you can see which parts have what textures assigned to them.

did you turn on material preview?

I'd like to try using these FF7 models to make a comedy video with my friends. I wanted to use Blender, but when I import Cloud's model, it appears untextured and "grey." Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Thank you, and thank you for making these models available.

Good news everyone!! All the models in FF7 along with animations can be ripped with noesis!! (Assuming its a PSX copy, but the PC port is technically an earlier version of that so who cares lol)
Bad news is, if you want to submit the models you need to bake in textures for the vertex coloring!! Which I don't feel like doing!

Yeah Alright so apparently im an idiot and didn't provide textures on relatively textureless models
Time to retry

@EaTstu: The pending submissions queue is backlogged with over 5600 models that at least range back to late November, so yes, the staff should take time to review them. It's going to be a while before your models get in anyway

Obligatory "WhY iSn'T tHe MoDeL iN yEt?!?!1/11!?"
staff take your time, this is an awesome project and my submissions are probably screwwey

Im like praying those get accepted

The models only have textures for eyes and mouths. All the coloring is done with vertex coloring, and I'm not sure how to put that in a .dae or .fbx file since it keeps *defaulting to a friggen white texture*
The vertex color data is still there, some assembly is required is all... And for some reason ones that don't have blown up animations are either .fbx or .dae, and I can't for the life of me figure out why they keep swapping which ones they dont break in. So I included both of them! I also Sent in .blend's to go with the blanks if you happen to have Blender 4.0 (I dont get why people insist on 2.79) since those are pretty much ready to use
Also, I tried baking the vertex coloring into a big texture but Black lines kept appearing around the edges no matter how many seams I tried putting in, so I quickly gave up after doing one. It's not like the overworld models, these things are jam-packed with detailed coloring. I think I did a good job though.

Ok
Sent in the HD Cloud (Only seen at the end of the game). I am going to sleep now

Change of plans, going RIGHT back to the pc models

Alright, The PC models are too much of a pain to deal with, so I'll see if I can use ninjaripper on a psx emulator. Results so far? It's capturing everything, but then it flattens it based on the perspective of the camera. The HUD at least went through properly... but the actual characters shape is like looking at a polaroid photo without the borders. The perspective's all there at the right angle, but there's not an actual model yet.
Will keep trying

I only see one pending model, and it's for Aerith. I'm sick of waiting, I'm going to rip those battle models myself. Win98 Virtual Machine, Kimera tool, and the Eidos Demo disk are what I got, and I'm perplexed how nobody has done this yet
Advice or alternatives would be appriciated

@Peardian: Alright, thank you!

@Enoch: Actually, someone did submit a few models from the remake back in July. There's just so many submissions right now, I haven't had a chance to get to them yet. Besides that, though, the main reason is "nobody else cared to submit any."

Does anyone know a particular reason that FF vii remake models haven’t been ripped? That’s a real question, not a request, I don’t play FF and don’t need the models. I’m just a little surprised and figure there’s a reason.

incoming battle models

@Satoh i have a win98SE disc and a virtual machine... maybe i could do something with that.

@EaTstu, its here because whoever ripped it did so from one of the PC versions, which is evident by the presence of wholly unnecessary mouths.
The battle models are a completely different and much more needlessly complicated model format.
Tools exist for editing 7's models, but in my experience, almost every tool that does exist, does not work very well or simply does not have export functions. Some do export but require you to be running win98 or earlier. (Not just compatibility mode, but actually having the full OS running due to some deeply rooted DLL requirements that simply don't exist in newer versions).
There are more variations on the problem but the gist of it is "can get the models but can't do anything with them" and "can export the models but cannot run the program" generally.
Clearly someone has at least a partially functional program.
