It's quite simple, really. If the eyelids were all the way open, it would be super hard for the artist to see and rig all the individual points. If the eye were all the way closed, it would be hard for the artist to distinguish between the points in the upper and lower eyelids. This is the same reason why a lot of modern character mouths are in a slightly open neutral shape.

There's a LOT of games that have closed eyelids for characters default poses. You may as well complain about every game that ever did that. (don't actually, i don't get it myself)

This is the correct rip, his rest pose is supposed to be squinting. I have no idea why, maybe it was easier to animate.

Has anyone tried to upload the correct Crash's model? This one looks seems to have his eyelid shape key is stuck in his half-closed eyes before uploading.

So it took this LONG to get Crash?

What kind of shaders did they use to make the model not ugly? Because man, That's one sad bandicoot.
