@hyperboid: As the comment below you says, Poochy also appears as a (fully 3D) cameo in Bowser's Kingdom.
I wonder why there's even a model for this fine pup in the game. It's only used in pre-rendered hint art. Not that I'm complaining, of course! We get to see this gloriously goofy perspective (and countless others) of the silly pup
