We learned an important lesson here, guys. You shouldn't put effort into the gameplay, the controls, the story, the sprites, or the character models. You should put it all... into the trees. And this game learned that the hard way.

Trees, The eternal foe of game developers

wait, this model is a reuesed one from a different game!? I thought they poorly made this!

@dald22 Funnily enough, 1337gamer15 pointed out that this has 821 tris, which is even more than most main characters at the time. Technology sure has advanced... but can you really say that with a straight face when looking at this tree?

ah yes, the infamous tree. glad it got a texture upgrade in the isle of armour and the crown tundra

You can spend like 30 fucking hours searching for pokemon in the wild area, don't be disingenuous lol. There are multiple in that map that look this way

Yes, people always point out the N64 tree and say the game's graphics are terrible, and I agree for the Wild Area. But the ENTIRE REST OF THE GAME is visually beautiful, and people just ignore it to criticize this model. It makes me sad.

this is just the result of running out of TP and wiping with the carboard tube

I think the trees look wonderful in the game. I'm saying this unironically.

N64 Tree never left us.

this is a n64 model whats it doing here?

For some reason I wasn't expecting an LoD model, even though it makes sense to have one. There's no additional models between the regular one and a flat plane, haha.

Couldn't find a model of OOT's tree but this thing has only 821 tris.
The entirety of Hyrule Field has 1597 tris.
Welp, I guess they must've planned on putting like entire forests of these things around. I mean even in games like Red Dead Redemption 2, the foliage is still pretty dern low poly because of how many have to be on screen at once.
This thing, there's usually only 2 or three of them visible at a time.

I absolutely love that you called it "Famous Tree".
