I'm not questioning how they folded every character in origami AND kept them the same size but also made the characters bigger?!? but its a game so who am i to ask questions or judge.

Peach was going to be a boss at one point, so the other facial expressions are unused, and she has unused attacking animations as well, but they probably scrapped the idea because they didn't want to show Mario killing Peach and her body exploding in front of him.
Peach was going to be a planned boss, but was later scrapped.
Are those different expressions unused?
