@LeoLuster214 i found out converting the files is not time consuming at all unless you are doing more than one. if you're converting just one, or even like five, it's really simple. the files are all .dae, so all you need is blender, import the models, pack the textures, save, and upload here. i assume the time consuming part is ripping the files. but @nimaid provided me with literally EVERY. MODEL. AND TEXTURE. IN THE GAME. up to a certain update. when looking at all the files, it's kind of annoying to figure out what is what, so i'm in the process of sorting them. i do have other projects though, so i can't just dump a bunch here. though for someone who has down time, it does not take that long at all.
I will write this for those who are waiting for rips: it is easier and better to unpack the game yourself and extract everything you need from it than to wait for someone to rip the models you need. Plus, even if someone rips the models and puts them here on the site, it's not a fact that they will be published. And guides on the topic of extraction, etc. can be easily found on the forum.
This is a stupid question, but I'm asking it because I don't know it. If the player's model had to be ripped, what would it look like?
@Croissant how long does it usually take for one model?
Might consider submitting more models for this game
@SuperCarlos68 Because the process of converting these models to useable formats is really, REALLY time consuming, and a decent bit of the game has already been ripped.
Why there's no new uploads anymore
Thanks for speaking up @nimaid!
Looks like my previous comments were deleted, along with others in the discussion. I feel strongly that these comments were not only appropriate but also directly beneficial to this website's goals. I posted links to the same sort of files that get posted here, simply as an unorganized complete model dump. This was manually reviewed and approved by Internet Archive (archive.org) staff, meaning that it is considered a legitimate item worthy of being made publically available and preserved.
Out of respect for the moderation staff, I will not re-post direct links. However, I want to let people know that a full model and texture dump of everything in ACNH 1.6.0 is available on archive.org if you search for it. If something is missing on this page, you can find it there with some digging through the folder structure. I would ask that if you do find something you were looking for to please prepare and submit it here if you can, to help others.
To the moderators: If you do delete this, could you please explain your reasoning?

wait why does it say we are talking in 1969?
@SK64_productions: It was deleted for a reason. You don't need to remind people that there are still pending submissions, or that your comment was the "first comment for the game in 2021".
Ok why are my Comments getting deleted for no reason
I've asked around for a Discord server for New Horizons file ripping/modding but haven't had any response. If there was one I'd love to hop on and discover/discuss things with others. But I'm not ready to commit to authoring a server, I have enough on my plate.
@sunnist - I'm not familiar with how to do this in Maya but the math is the same.
@KirbyDreamLand - Creating custom textures would take a lot of work, having to reconstruct the face and it's UVs, and then combining the textures into one -- pretty messy but doable with a lot of time. To me it doesn't seem worth the hassle... if you're getting into this stuff, as I've learned, you need to be willing to learn these potentially complicated things. I come from years of 3D art and 3D technical study for game production, so it was a little easier for me to pick up how they have things set up for their game. If my thread confuses you then, with highest respects for you, you may need to take some more time learning the software and processes, as I don't have the time to spell everything out step by step. But if there was a Discord server for this stuff, I'd be happy to help point you in the right direction. I'm new to all this game file ripping stuff, but at least I have a strong 3D background to help me out. And honestly just sitting and clicking around with these game models is a huge educator for me on its own -- just poking around at things and exploring how they've set it all up. Fascinating stuff!
@nimaid - Of course! :) I'd love to help out further if I can be of any assistance. A Discord server would be super helpful.

@nimaid @Penguinburger, you guys are amazing. Could anybody show us how to set up players' textures in maya please?
The method to assemble them is too complicated and confusing.
Can't you guys provide custom textures for easy use?
Can't you guys provide custom textures for easy use?
@KirbyDreamLand @LeoLuster I think I got it mostly figured out (in Blender). Took me some fiddling. Go to this thread for some information and material node screenshots, hope it helps!

@KirbyDreamLand No clue, but it seems to be difficult to do from what I hear.
How you guys assemble the facial textures for the player model?
It's a lot messy if compared to the npcs.

Same! I really want to get and explore how the models work in this game.
AAAAGH!! I can't wait!!
