His primary design might be bad in MK4, but the ninja outfit one actually is quite fire.
Reptile in purple and in red seemed like surprising outfit palette choices outside of his signature green.
This one is uncanny, and his mask makes no sense. The ninja mask covered his reptilian-like mouth, but here, there's no point on wearing a mask, he doesn't even look like a ninja anymore and he's ugly like the lizard from the spiderman movie. Reptile was iconic because he was the green ninja, in MK4, he's just a reptilian dude who looks ugly, the green in his skin looks bad, and of all colors, they chose purple for his pants. Atleast the MKDA one had a better ninja-like suit, and had better colors in the design.
I'd rather have this over that Deadly Alliance design. They just made him an actual lizard. At least he still has some human-like elements here.
I actually have something of a soft spot for this outfit. It's so drastically different from any of the ninja garbs that came before or after but it doesn't exactly look BAD, it's mostly that Reptile's physical design isn't good and the execution of the design is severely held back by the graphics of the time. If it were remade for, like, MK9 or M1K Reptile I bet it would be pretty kickass.
