They had a cart racer on PlayStation1 back in 2000. It was later ported to Dreamcast and PC. After that they had another completely different cart racer made by Rareware for N64 published late 2000 and through 2001.
Both titles had games on Gameboy Color but I hate to call them ports because they are simply different games made by different people it just happen that have the same titles and branding from the previous releases. So I don't count them to the mentioned, more like a standalone gap.
So safe to say next to those this mobile game years later was nothing new.

@ComJay They've made kart racers since at least the N64 era. I'm not able to judge them on quality, I've never played any of them.
