I think they just said, well nevermind it, we'll go with new generation card designs (Jintrix and Crusader cards have him with red glowing eyes.)
Wait, BlackMetalGarurumon had full on red-like eyes? But in official media like Digimon World Data Squad and Digimon Masters, it had normal looking eyes with yellow irises...
