Why did they make his hair & shoes flesh-colored?

This appears to be a mesh between Melee and Mario Party with the the eye and button textures as well as the head shape being more akin to Melee, while the simpler cap design and saturated color palette are akin to Mario Party. His hands also remind me of Luigi's hands from Luigi's Mansion. But because the torso proportions are so off, I'd say this model would work if Mario were to cameo in another character's game like Captain Rainbow or Punchout on Wii. (With the missing shoe, mustache, and hair textures included of course!)
