I already had a hunch that these were 3D backgrounds, but most it is because I played MUGEN a lot and I felt something was off with the MvC2 stages on MUGEN. This is even confirmed with the 360/PS3 versions that show parts of the stages that weren't meant for a widescreen view. I always find it funny.
I thought these stages were 2D graphics at first, goes to tell you some games literally show off their graphical power.
Holy shit no way, these are all rendered in real time? For years I thought these were all just pre-rendered backgrounds.
