@MM0501: Yes, this is a mod of Brawl. Unfortunately it's not possible to download the game from its official website anymore, so you may have to look elsewhere for it. However, there IS a new iteration called Project+, which aims to continue the legacy Project M left behind.

I just recently learned of this game, thanks to this site. I had no idea this was a thing! Is this basically just a modded Smash Brawl, or is it its own completely different game using modified assets from Brawl? All the characters here look SO awesome! Where could I play it, if it can still be played today?

@MG64: That's because that's not Project M. Additionally, read the comments from Peardian and I below as to why this section exists.

Funny how there isn't any Project+ Content on this page

morpho knight is here? its amazing hope to see those characters in smash ultimate

@WannaBeDev if you are finding jet set sonic, you can find here: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/jet-set-sonic-80fd02f68bb1460d88ff8011771af3e5

The only customs on tMR that doesn't end with the word "customs".
(I think.)
(I think.)

@WannaBeDev: Only if the original creators of said models want us to host them, we won't allow others to rip/submit models on their behalf.

Can someone rip Jet Set Sonic?

@Poudink: Part of the reason why is because this is one of our earliest Custom sections, and the other would be if it were in the Wii section, we'd just have a bunch of people attempting to submit mod rips. As I wasn't the one that set up either this or the Newer game sections, I'm not exactly the right person to ask about that.

@Random Talking Bush why is this in the customs section? the newer wii/newer ds pages are in the wii/ds sections (or at least they are on spriter's resource)

@Bromaster: Project M is a noteworthy enough and "official-feeling" (if that makes sense) mod to have a place on The Models Resource, never mind the fact that some of the mod team are also VG Resource users.

so...
basically we can't upload mod models for PM but PM is one big mod, so how is that accepted?

@720-P: We won't host / accept unofficial content made for Project M (or other Smash mods).

scott pilgrim PLEASE

Yeah, the models all being on one place is a lot more convenient.

These models were submitted, with permission from the team and some help from me, in the name of the team members. I am not opposed to re-categorizing all of these models into their respective series, though I think some people would prefer to see these models all together.

That's because those hacks were either made by the games' original creators or obscure chinese bootleggers we will never meet. Project M is made by a dev team with an online presence, and isn't really a bootleg, so it feels a lot more like a fan game.

I know about it being a fan game but its more of a hack or mod than a fangame, even then sites on the VG resource (i.e. spriters resources) have hacks or mods of games like Super Mario Bros. featuring Piranha Plant, Among the Others, Sonic 2 XL, Super Sponge Bros., Genesis Sonic Boom and others like those MLP hacks. All of which are in their system of the hack (Piranha Plant is on NES and Sonic Boom on the Genesis) as opposed to being on Custom/Edited.

@saidFayad5 Project M is a fan game and not an official Wii game. Ergo they in Custom/Edited.
