how new is that? i know at the time i made that comment, my search for an addon that restored blender's original dae functionality came up empty. regardless, i just stick to older versions of blender anyway.

man it really bothers me that modern blender just... dropped support for the main format for rigged models here. you'd think someone would be quick on the draw to restore that functionality with an addon, but i guess not. i stick with older versions still for numerous reasons. but i still think that sucks.

If you're using Blender 4.5 or below, click File > Import > Collada (.dae) and select the model there. If you're on 5.0 or above you can use Noesis or Autodesk FBX Converter to convert the model to an FBX.
