Basically (for a Source Engine analogy) there are VMTs disguised as VTFs. That and also that you're probably using a DDS importer that doesn't cover all variants of the format. |

Edit: A year after making this comment, I soon realized that it was a terrible idea to hate a character's appearance depending on what outfit they're wearing. I mean, going full critic towards something like that made me feel rather silly. |
