The only colored part is the shoes because Mario is hiding in a pipe.
This is just weird the way how it is in the ending to model looks black but here it is lighted up. Guess Nintendo used pitch black lighting.
Guess the only thing you see in normal gameplay is his shadow... Go figure.
Why would they need his hair if he never takes off his cap? Or does he?

...I fixed Mario's eye texture, the original image had all of the non-alpha texturing removed, so I split that into two.
And I re-rendered the icon/preview, too.
