@axetrax: there is! you can change the third drop-down from the top from 'repeat' (default) to 'mirror':
not sure if anyone has a more efficent solution, but if youre confused about the textures being messed up in blender, i believe its because the texture repeating is supposed to be mirrored (i dont know if theres a way to set texture repeating to be this way in blender), so id reccomend just splitting the model with the knife tool if its symmetrical and flipping the broken side of the UV to align with the functioning side.
now i feel like doing an annoying 60's music video with outdated CGI.
