Well technically one of them is a disguised ALBW Link, who is decidedly not a "Toon," so I can see either way with this. The conversation was only going on this long due to the initial comment being a superlative with too small a scope.

He is only referred to as "Toon" Link when in the context of games or other situations (amiibo) where "regular" Link is also represented. In this game and others like it, he is just Link.
Imagine if Sonic's model in Sonic Adventure was labeled "Adventure Series" Sonic or Wario in Wario World was "Classic" Wario.

Hyrule Historia, however, calls him "Cat-Eye" Link.

And In Hyrule Warriors

Not really, he's called "Toon Link" in the amiibo series as well.

Er, calling him “Toon Link” in the context of this game would be inappropriate. That only really applies to Super Smash Bros.
