@Releasius I'm actually pretty sure Paper Jam uses a new Mario model, though I haven't gone in to confirm this hypothesis. The textures are completely different (Paper Jam having more detailed textures,) Mario's arms seem to be slightly longer, and he generally seems to have less polygons.

The model actually looks hella good for 3DS standards
Turns out there was a missing attribute that isn't checked by default when exporting from Blender 2.79, but Blender 3.0 requires to load the model. I submitted a revision with this issue fixed.
Seems the .dae file doesn't work in Blender 3.0+
This would be good for smash
