I like how starting with this game, dodging the Blue Shell with a Mushroom became a feature rather than an oversight. It's proven that it's a feature in Mario Kart 8 because you can Mushroom into a wall and even though you are clearly in the explosion, you are still immune to it.

Edit: Disregard everything I said, apparently dodging it with a mushroom in MKWii was a feature too.
