i think i know what you're talking about. If youre on Blender, just mess around with the Specular so its just the model.
That sounds like a material setting in your program. Try checking settings like specular/luminance/emissions/reflection to see if any of them are turned on.
What do I do to display the textures correctly? They're super light.
